PROBLEMS FACING PORT ENGINEERS IN LAND RECLAMATION
This article describes achievements which have been made in land reclamation technology in England. Through these descriptions, the author gives some indications of the problems encountered in land reclamation projects. These problems are later discussed, and they include carrying out a soil investigation over the whole area of reclamation and a model analysis to determine the effect of the reclamation on the surrounding area, determining the type and depth of fill which is necessary to provide the load bearing characteristics required for the reclamation.
