MANAGEMENT INFORMATION FOR DREDGING
A management information system is critical in decision making at all levels of port management. The design of an information system is highly dependent on the level of management requiring the information. Research at an English university has evolved a detailed management information system for control of trailer-suction dredging at the operational level, and this system is described. The system is based on computer data handling methods using programs written in Fortran IV producing daily, weekly and monthly outputs of data.
