The demand for electrical energy to supply the Austrian Railways has quintupled over the last 25 Years. The Report describes the electricity generating equipment with special attention to the transformer substations, which provides the greater part of the electricity supply, and discusses the considerations which led to the construction of the St. Michael substation, of which some technical details are given.
