DES NOUVELLES TECHNIQUES EN CIMENTERIE

The author studies the evolution in the cement manufacturing technique from the point of view of modernization and automation. A review is presented of methods of extracting raw materials, crushing in the quarry, transport of materials, preparation of raw materials (wet, semi-wet, dry and semi-dry manufacturing process), burning (vertical oven, rotating oven, oven with a preparation grid, and cyclone oven), clinker cooling devices, fuel used for burning, crushing, storage and handling. Some of the manufacturing operations can be automated to a large degree. Many factories have a centralized control room, facilitating the remote control of ovens, crushers, and slag driers. /TRRL/
