MOBILITY 2000 PRESENTS INTELLIGENT VEHICLES AND HIGHWAYS. 1990 SUMMARY
The national IVHS (Intelligent Vehicle/Highway Systems) Workshop, held in Dallas on March 19-21, 1990, was a forum for the exchange of ideas, plans, and definitions. An Executive Summary was published by the Texas Transportation Institute to brief executives at the May 3-5 IVHS National Leadership Conference on the progress of the Workshop. One very important purpose of the Workshop was to open a dialogue between all involved parties--in government, industry, and research. A dynamic dialogue took place in Dallas, and continued through the publication of the Executive Summary in April of 1990. This publication is an update and reprinting of the April Executive Summary. The contents are presented under the following headings: Vision of IVHS; Components of IVHS; Benefits; Milestones for IVHS; Research and Development Needs; Field Tests; Deployment; Funding; Action Items; and Mobility 2000.
