IDEA SAMPLER. BUCKLE UP AMERICA! MAY 22-29, 1989. THE WINNING COMBINATION
The 1989 BUCKLE UP AMERICA! Idea Sampler provides a collection of successful ideas for the week-long campaign to encourage everyone in the United States to buckle up, to use belts correctly, and to protect children in correctly used child safety seats on every motor vehicle trip. The theme for this year's week (May 22-29) is "The Winning Combination." The specific winning combination being featured is high safety belt use rates and the phase-in of automatic crash protection, such as air bags and automatic belts. The Idea Sampler also contains suggested activities for projects specifically addressing the several common goals of the participating organizations who are supporting this year's BUCKLE UP AMERICA! Week. "The Winning Combination" is also the title of a new NHTSA film on the use of air bags and automatic belt systems in tandem with manual systems.
