INNOVATION THROUGH RESEARCH: CULTURAL INTEGRATION, PRODUCT DESIGN AND THE EUROPEAN 'DRIVE' PROGRAMME

The economic integration of Europe has important consequences for transport organization and transport technology. The paper reflects upon the importance of the DRIVE program as a device for accomplishing technological integration prior to full political integration. To summarize, DRIVE provides a clear example of innovation through research simultaneously in three domains: the technological domain; the policy domain; and the institutional domain. This combination of elements provides a new object of analysis in the field of organizational studies.
