The proportioning of the binder in bituminous mixtures has been based for more than 25 years on the same principles. The aim of this article is to simplify the methods utilized for establishing formulae for close-graded hot-coated materials as regards the determination of voids in the compacted mixture with a view to evaluating the durability and skidding resistance of the latter. Another method is proposed for determining the effective binder content. /TRRL/
