PEDESTRIAN CROSSINGS. 1 - WARRANTS FOR DIFFERENT TYPES OF PEDESTRIAN CROSSING BASED ON DELAY TO VEHICLES
At present, warrants for a type of control at a pedestrian crossing are fixed mostly on arbitrary values for vehicle and pedestrian flows. It depends on whether the pedestrian crossing is located in a built-up area having more than 10,000 population or less. It will be appropriate to develop warrants for both vehicle and pedestrian flows to choose a type of crossing based on the loss of time to vehicle traffic as it involves economic loss. The author's method should predict, with a universal application, whether there is a need for any control and, if so, what type of control is required for the observed flows at any place. (a).
