LATERAL STRAINS IN HARDENED CEMENT PASTE UNDER SHORT- AND LONG-TERM LOADING
The influence of porosity, stress, moisture content, age of loading and period under load upon lateral strains in hardened cement paste under short- and long-term loading is examined. A simple predictive function for Poisson's ratio is given. Creep Poisson's ratio of hardened cement paste was 0.13 for all tests. The relationship between the lateral strain behaviour of hardened cement paste and of concrete is discussed. The creep Poisson's ratio results provided evidence on the nature of the deformation processes in hardened cement paste. /TRRL/
