AUCKLAND CENTRAL AREA TRAFFIC SIGNAL CONTROL SYSTEM
Details are given of the Auckland Central Area digital computer traffic control system, the main aims of which are: (1) to increase capacity in order to balance motorway supply volumes; (2) to reduce delays and stops, and hence safety: and (4) to prevent queues or lock-ups at critical intersections. Secondary aims are to provide statistics on counts, speeds etc., to provide early fault reports on equipment failure and to run other programs for traffic engineering staff. /TRRL/
