The Mesarovic-Pestel world model is a forecasting model used in the transportation of oil cargoes. The objective of this article is to highlight some of the energy scenarios from this world model, as far as they are of interest to the oil shipping community. The author briefly goes into the structure of the existing oil-shipping forecasting models and the basic difference with the Mesarovic-Pestel model. Next the author gives an outline of the different energy-submodels that were developed in the framework of the M-P model, and he summarizes the results of their energy scenarios. Finally, an effort is made to establish the impact of the different scenarios on the tanker tonnage needed in the future.
