IBM'S INTEGRATED NAVIGATION SYSTEM
Safer navigation and fuel savings are promised by IBM's Maritime Applications/Bridge System which uses a data processor, bridge console and various modules to perform target acquisition and tracking, threat and maneuver evaluation, route calculation and tracking, steering and course maintenance, and position fixing. The manner in which the system performs these functions is explained, and the normal operation of the unit is also briefly described in the article.
