AUTONAVIGATOR--AN ADVANCED SHIP PILOTAGE AID
A computer radar system, which has recently completed a year's trials in Finland, is described. This harbor radar system consists of a shore station, with the radars, computer, and other system elements, and a receiving unit which the pilot carries on board ship with him. The concept behind the development of this system, as well as system components, target selection and acquisition, position calculations and control quantities, data display, system accuracy, and other functions which are available with this system, are all described and explained in the article.
