Operating principles for a direct-current sub-station incorporating silicon diode rectifiers with three-phase axle connection having a unit power from 1,000 to 4,000 kW. Voltage limitation, obtained by electronic control, makes it possible to absorb the current generated during the regenerative-braking process, without the voltage at the traction-motor terminal exceeding the stipulated tolerances.
