THE ADAPTION OF UNIFLOW SCAVENGED SLOW SPEED DIESEL ENGINES OPERATING ON LOW QUALITY FUELS TO MEET FUTURE DEMAND FOR MORE ECONOMIC PROPULSION
Discusses the design of very long stroke diesel engines with conrrespondingly lower propeller speeds. The search for reduced fuel consumtion and the requirement to burn fuels of varying quality with viscosities exceeding 3,500 seconds Redwood has resulted in increased initial capital costs. The results of extensive tests on fuels of various viscosities are included.
