INCREASED FUEL PRICES - EFFECT ON OPERATING SPEEDS, OPERATING COSTS AND MAINTENANCE

A method for adjusting a ship's service speed to allow for variables such as the increase in fuel costs, wages, freight rates and depreciation. The optimum type and rating of machinery, ship's speed, hull form and the additional initial investment required for increased automation and improved maintenance are briefly mentioned.
