EKOFISK STORAGE TANK
The crude oil storage tank erected on the Ekofisk oil field, in the North Sea, is the first buoyant structure with a 64m draught for a 205 000 cu m displacement ever constructed. Its construction in a Norwegian fjord, towage over more than 400 km and installation in a 70 m water depth, were the result of design technical applications on the reduction in wave forces and scouring hazards (Jarlan perforated wall theory), on the stability of a big size caisson and on all towing problems.
