VARIOUS METHODS FOR MEASUREMENT OF FORCES ACTING ON SHIPS
Various methods for measuring forces acting on ships lying in locks and lock forebays during the courses of filling and emptying or passing before inlet and outlet works in inland waterways have been developed in the Theodor-Rehbeck- Hydraulic-Laboratory. Both steady and unsteady cross currents can impinge upon the ship and create forces and moments which may disturb or even jeopardize safe transportation. The scope of this paper is to show three methods how impulse forces attacking vessels can be measured. Data are presented in graphical form.
