SWEDISH EXPERIMENTAL SAFETY VEHICLE PROGRAM. STEERABILITY DURING EMERGENCY BRAKING. FIELD TESTING. PERFORMANCE TESTS. BASIC TEST DATA
During the performance tests, carried out as field tests, the following signals are recorded, viz. Lateral acceleration, longitudinal acceleration, yaw velocity. The recorded information is data processed according to a program, which calculates the path and the state of motion versus time of the vehicle. The primary data together with the calculated path of the vehicle are presented for one representative "braking in a curve" test, for different parameter combinations. During braking in a curve, the steering wheel is rapidly turned to a predetermined stop position giving minimum free-rolling radius, and after the transient yaw period, varying between 0.5-1.5 seconds, the clutch is disengaged and the brakes are fully applied.
