AUTOMATIC EVALUATION OF VEHICLE BRAKES
AUTOMATISCHE WERTUNG DER FAHRZEUGBREMSEN
A new procedure for testing brakes can be used if the vehicle data are stored on a computer, the measured values obtained from the test rig are computer processed and a pedal force sensor is used. The procedure evaluates the function of braking force over pedal force. It is concluded that braking is carried out up to sliding and incorrectly measured. The wheel load does not have to be weighed and is still evaluated correctly even with wet tyres (within limits). The good - bad - decisions (there are 16 given A car and normal test run) are made by the computer. A less informed person can carry out the tests. It may be assumed that, given that the quality of the test is at least maintained, the costs of testers per vehicle are reduced. The procedure is described and illustrated. Details are given of results obtained from practical tests. The covering abstract for the conference is IRRD No. 208556. /TRRL/
