A REVIEW OF TOWN PLANNING IN RELATION TO ROAD SAFETY

This report is a literature survey and is divided into sections covering the planning of new development, the organisation of traffic in existing areas, and physical changes to existing development. The first section is concerned with land use and design of road networks together with local design matters such as pedestrian areas, types of intersections and design of individual sites. Section 2 covers aspects of traffic management including parking, one-way streets and traffic restraint measures. The third section is concerned with changes to traffic movement effected by street closures, the redesign of existing intersections etc. Details of twelve specific research topics proposed are included. ;TRRL;
