THE RELATION BETWEEN ROAD SURFACE AND ROUGHNESS
DE RELATIE TUSSEN HET WEGOPPERVLAK EN DE STROEFHEID
A review is given of important influences on the coefficient of friction between the tyre and the road surface. These are for example the surface texture, the speed of the vehicle, the depth of the profile of the tyre, and the type of tyre. Some measures for improving the roughness of the surface during the construction of new roads and on already existing roads are presented. The covering abstract for the conference is IRRD no. 216265. ;TRRL;
