NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN THEORY AND METHOD OF ANALYSIS FOR INELASTIC PLATES AND SHELLS
Three new developments are presented. First, simple plasticity equations are derived for the calculation of moments and forces at large strains. These equations are suitable for design purposes and for the processing of experimental results. Secondly, an improved yield criterion is proposed to avoid the discrepancy in collapse loads due to partial plasticity of a section. Finally, a fairly accurate method is given for estimating collapse loads from elastic large-deflection results. (a). This paper was presented at a symposium on non-linear techniques and behavior in structural analysis, held at the Transport and Road Research Laboratory, Crowthorne, 11th and 12th December 1974. /TRRL/
