Detailed comments supplemented with sketches are grouped in 6 categories. The section on planning emphasizes continuity, describes ideal bar charts, drawings for simple storage arrangements, histograms, block models, and various other aspects among which are, site sample of concrete, laps and joints in bars, precast edge units, dimension books, and trench fill techniques. The section on formwork covers aspects of forms for stairs, hopper forms, kickers, fins or mullions, the early removal of soffit and supports, the avoidance of secondary deflection, and the sealing off of grout infiltration. Saw kerfs which assist in bending timber around corners, pins which position blocks, and the spiking of props to plates are among other recommendations. Chamfered boards for masking continuous slots and chequerplate stopend material are also described. Salient features of batching, mixing, handling and placing are detailed, and the different aspects of surface finishes are reviewed. Recommendations are made with regard to precasting, and comments are made which relate to general matters including safety.
