A METHOD FOR PRODUCING STANDARD SURFACES TO CALIBRATE THE PORTABLE SKID-RESISTANCE TESTER
This report discusses the need to produce standard surfaces against which the portable skid-resistance tester can be calibrated and demonstrates the principle of a possible method of manufacture of such surfaces. The work has also investigated the changes in skid resistance value likely to take place when a surface is repeatedly evaluated. The method used to condition standard surfaces was to simulate the action of the portable skid-resistance tester so that the effect of a large number of measurements could be achieved in a short period, thus producing surfaces which were in a "steady state". /Author/TRRL/
