GRAVEL-EMULSION ROADBASES
LAS BASES DE GRAVA-EMULSION
Gravel-emulsion is a perfect material for use in roadbases. Its main quality is the satisfactory distribution of the binder within the mineral framework, the tendency being to use a very low binder content with an emulsion sufficiently stable to obtain satisfactory coating. The surfacing, laid on top of the gravel-emulsion mixture, can be fairly thin and consists of bituminous mixtures or surface dressings. Because it is laid cold, problems caused by the weather are eliminated. The proportioning, manufacture and laying of gravel-emulsion mixtures are discussed together with the design of surfacings containing this material. /TRRL/
