NS SAVANNAH MELTDOWN CALCUALTION; A DISCUSSION OF MODEL ASSUMPTIONS, INPUT SELECTION, AND CONSERVATISM

A detailed description of the N.S. Savannah meltdown calculation is presented, with four areas discussed at length: model, inherent model assumptions, selection of input parameters, and degree of conservatism. An attempt is made to separate the effects of decisions in any of the four individual areas. The input parameters reviewed include heat generation, radiation, conduction, convection, and heat storage. Appendices are given with data on gamma heat power split and axial radiation.
