CRACKING OF VOIDED POSTTENSIONED CONCRETE BRIDGE DECKS
This report examines the problem of cracking in voided, posttensioned concrete bridge decks in the Province of Ontario. The study includes: monitoring of deformations and temperature variations of a prototype bridge; acrylic modelling of two typical prototype bridges; building of an automated finite element computer program; surveying and coring a large number of bridge decks; chemical analysis for chloride content; long-term testing of voided, micro-concrete models; constructing a representative cross-sectional slice of a prototype bridge: and using rigid foams as void-formers. /RTAC/
