GUIDE FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF CONCRETE BRIDGE DECKS SUBJECTED TO DETERIORATION
The purpose of this guide is to provide information on key issues relating to the design, construction and performance of concrete bridge decks subjected to de-icing chemicals. Most the ensuing observations and recommendations apply to other structures in similar environments, such as parking structure decks, structural ramps, etc. It is intended to underscore the need for thoughtful planning and execution of work on concrete bridge decks. It is the Committee's aim that this guide be of value to the many people associated directly and indirectly with bridge deck construction so that they might have a better understanding of good deck construction and of bridge deck deterioration. In particular the designer, the inspection staff, the concrete producer and the contractor, his superintendent, foreman and field crew should be familiar with its contents. /RTAC/
