CALCULATION OF ROAD TRAFFIC NOISE
This memorandum describes the procedures for calculating noise from road traffic, which therefore provide appropriate guidance relating to highway design and location, environmental planning etc. In Section I a method is set out, step by step, for predicting noise levels at a distance from a highway, taking into account different traffic flows, road configuration, and intervening ground cover. In section II the procedure, physical conditions and equipment for a measurement method are detailed together with details of a simplified measurement procedure which is acceptable in certain circumstances. Examples of the application of the procedures are given in annexes 1-17. /TRRL/
