STRESS ANALYSIS IN MULTILAYER PAVEMENTS AND COMPUTER-AIDED DESIGN PROGRAMMING FOR FLEXIBLE PAVEMENTS
Analyses of stresses and displacements for multi-layer elastic system are presented in this paper. The contact at the interfaces between adjacent layers in the pavement structure is assumed to be fully continuous. However the interface between the first and the second layer is considered as fully continuous, fully smooth or partially bonded. On the basis of this analysis, computer programs (ght871h, ght872h, ght87-2, ght8710h and ght87-10), are developed for the IBM pc/xt and sharp pc 1500 pocket computer. These programs can be used to carry out the design and examination of pavement structures according to "specifications for design of highway flexible pavement" (1987.1.1) and to calculate all stresses, strains and displacements at any point in a multi-layer system under multi-wheel loads. The practical use of these programs is illustrated in two examples. (a) for the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD abstract no 823365.
