RECREATIEF VERKEER VRAAGT OM CREATIEF VERVOER. NEDERLANDSE SPOORWEGEN IN VRIJE TIJD EN RECREATIE

The economic and social importance of leisure is increasing. This has repercussions for transport. Almost 50% of the overall mobility is generated by leisure purposes. Despite this, traffic and transport policy focuses on commuter and business traffic. This paper describes trends in leisure and leisure mobility, followed by expected future trends. By means of some scenarios problems and opportunities for public transport (especially rail) are outlined. The end of the paper is addressed to government, leisure organisations and public transport companies.(a) for the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 825702.
