KINEMATIC EXTENSION OF AN ISOTROPIC HARDENING MODEL FOR SAND. NUMERICAL MODELS IN GEOMECHANICS. NUMOG III. PROCEEDINGS OF THE 3RD INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM HELD AT NIAGARA FALLS, CANADA, 8-11 MAY 1989

In this paper, a kinematic hardening model is proposed by introducing a new stress ratio tensor and a new scalar quantity of stress ratio into a previous isotropic hardening model for sand,. This model can describe the behaviour of sand under various cyclic loading and rotation of principal stress axes as well as the behaviour under various monotonic loading in three-dimensional stresses. The calculated results agree with those obtained by the former isotropic hardening model under monotonic loading. The accuracy of the predictions made under various cyclic loading are checked by experimental results on medium dense toyoura sand. For the covering abstract of this conference see IRRD 824029.
