A MULTILAMINATE MODEL FOR SANDS. NUMERICAL MODELS IN GEOMECHANICS. NUMOG III. PROCEEDINGS OF THE 3RD INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM HELD AT NIAGARA FALLS, CANADA, 8-11 MAY 1989
In this paper, the multilaminate framework proposed by pande and sharma (1983) for clays has been applied to sands. The model developed by pietruszczak and poorooshasb (poorooshasb and pietruszczak (1985) and pietruszczak (1986)) has been modified for multilaminate framework. The formulation incorporates shear hardening on 'active' planes passing through a material point of the porous media. The model is capable of predicting behaviour of sand under both monotonic and cyclic loading. It has been validated by comparing the predicted and observed deformation behaviour of sand in hollow cylinderical and true triaxial tests.(a) for the covering abstract of this conference see IRRD 824029.
