COMPACTION OF EARTHWORKS. THICK-LIFT COMPACTION BY MEANS OF HEAVY VIBRATORY ROLLER AND HEAVY PNEUMATIC-TYRED COMPACTOR
COMPACTAGE DES TERRASSEMENTS-COMPACTAGE EN GRANDE EPAISSEUR AU MOYEN DE ROULEAUX A CYLINDRES VIBRANTS LOURDS ET D[UN COMPACTEUR A PNEUS LOURDS
The tests described, which were carried out in test pits, are a continuation of the investigations described in the lcpc research report no. 24. They were conducted in order to: (1) investigate the influence of the translation speed of a vibratory roller (Sismopactor 850 Albaret)? (2) investigate the influence of the compaction moisture content; (3) study the efficiency of two one-roller vibratory compactors (ray-go 500 a and 700a), with characteristics different from those of the Sismopactor 850 Albaret roller? (4) to compare the depth efficiency of a heavy pneumatic-tyred roller (Albaret Geopactor) with that of vibratory rollers with a view to making comparisons with previous tests; the thickness of the layer of materials to be compacted is the same and the moisture content is equal to the normal optimum Proctor for all sections where this parameter is not tested. The criteria used to make comparisons are the average density over the whole of the thickness compacted, the minimum density at the bottom of the layer, and density distribution as a function of depth. A recording was also taken of the vibratory behaviour of vibratory rollers an acceleration within the materials compacted. ;TRRL;
