SPRAYED CONCRETE ACCELERATORS
The widespread use of sprayed concrete either in a dry-mix system or a wet-mix system is described and the necessity for accelerators explained. Accelerators may be in either powder or liquid form and the most common combination is found to be the dry-mix system with powder accelerators. The tricosal t1 liquid accelerator produced by tricosal gmbh is designed to be used with both wet and dry systems and is compatible with all cements. A high efficiency is claimed even at very low dosages and adhesion is particularly suited to overhead applications. The tricosal liquid system consists of the accelerator liquid and an automatic dosage unit specifically developed for underground conditions which will ensure a consistent quality of sprayed concrete. The use of the tricosal system is described in the rengerhausen tunnel on the wurzburg -hannover railway where despite difficult conditions it was very successful. (TRRL)
