NOISE CALCULATIONS, ONE OF THE MANY POSSIBILITIES OF THE APPLICATION OF EXPERT SYSTEMS IN TRAFFIC AND TRANSPORT . CONFERENCE PAPERS ON THE WORKING DAYS ON TRAFFIC ENGINEERING 1989
GELUIDSBEREKENINGEN, EEN VAN DE VELE TOEPASSINGSMOGELIJKHEDEN VAN EXPERTSYSTEMEN IN HET VERKEER EN VERVOER
After a short introduction on the concept of expert systems, an overview is given on the applications of expert systems in traffic and transport. This includes finished projects, and projects that are either foreseen in the near future, or that appear to be worth future exploration. These applications are clustered according to the following general typology: (a) the applications of procedures and formal regulations; (b) the actual transfer of data; (c) the cognitive transfer of specialised knowledge; (d) the decision support and (e) the modelling of individual choice behaviour. Some specific applied use of expert systems are clarified using a prototype expert system that has been developed by tno for applications regarding traffic noise. (TRRL)
