ICX: A CUSTOM VLSI-CHIP FOR ENGINE CONTROL
The custom vlsi-chip icx for engine control is a smart cmos chip interfacing the microprocessor with the actuators for fuel and spark. This interface operates as a memory-mapped write-only output for the microprocessor, absolutely avoids the need for any interrupt signals for synchronization, and is free from any timing restrictions for the data transfer from the microprocessor to the icx. It unburdens the microprocessor from trivial and time-consuming tasks. And it directly allows for individual control of each of the cylinders of the engine.
