CUTTING THE CASUALTIES
A joint initiative for road safety research, between Birmingham city council and the automobile association foundation has been made. The research is concentrated on road accidents in urban areas in Birmingham and the West Midlands, where annually between 8000 and 10000 injury producing accidents are recorded. Research results have been published in 'traffic collisions in an urban area of Great Britain'. For the abstract of the full report see IRRD no 824124, this article summarises the key recommendations for action arising from the research.
