ULTIMATE SHEAR TESTS OF PRESTRESSED CONCRETE I-BEAMS. PROCEEDINGS OF THE INSTITUTION OF CIVIL ENGINEERS
Tests to study the influence of prestressing force on shear strength were carried out on 27 simply-supported prestressed and reinforced concrete beams. The principal factors considered in the tests were the prestressing force, the number of web reinforcements and the shear span to effective depth ratio. Test results show that shear strength is affected by the prestressing force. Based on the test results of the prestressed beams and reinforced beams, a formula for calculating shear strength is presented. The calculated results were compared with 94 test results and better agreement was obtained.(a)
