MODELLING OF PRIORITY INTERSECTIONS
MODELACION DE INTERSECCIONES PRIORITARIAS
This article presents a synthesis of research carried out to model the capacity, delays and queues at urban priority junctions in Chile. The main objective of the study was to test the application to Chilean conditions of computer programs and models developed at the Transport and Road Research Laboratory (TRRL) for the simulation of priority junctions. Field experiments are briefly described, and the results and statistical analyses presented show great similarity between figures and parameters obtained in Chile and England. Observed differences in visibility parameters (to right and left) are attributed to the inadequate design of priority junctions in Chile.
