THE SPEED OF CARS AS A FUNCTION OF VARIABLES RELATING TO THE JOURNEY, THE VEHICLE AND THE CAR OWNER

Measurements of the speed of cars on main roads have been made in connection with interviews made at the roadside. The collected material has been supplemented with information from the vehicle register and driving licence register. Subsequent analysis has made it possible to demonstrate relations between speeds and the following factors: purpose of the journey, length of the journey, vehicle performance, age of the owner, paved width of road and use of trailer.
