TERRE ARMEE TECHNOLOGY NOW USED THROUGHOUT THE WORLD

In this article, the research activities of the reinforced earth group of companies is described. Structural design research has included studying the behaviour of reinforced earth under the various static, dynamic and thermal stresses to which structures might be exposed. This research was carried out using three dimensional laboratory scale models, and mathematical modelling using finite element analysis. A library of computational programs has been established. Durability research has focussed on finding suitable reinforcement materials, and the behaviour of steel, galvanised steel, coated steel, passive alloys and plastic materials have been examined. High adherence reinforcing strips have been developed. The organisation of the group of companies is described. Companies are licensed under the patents issued to henri vidal who invented the concept of reinforced earth. Each company is autonomous with terre armee internationale acting as the central technical and information service.
