TREVI ADDS GROUND TREATMENT SKILLS

This article describes a number of machine development projects currently being undertaken by soilmec, a member of the trevi group foundation engineering business based at cesena, Italy. These include: a) a prototype twin headed jet grouting rig for pipe roof tunnelling, the l620m; B) field trials on a prototype trevimix ground improvement rig, which uses a large rig mounted auger to mix cement, sand or lime into the soil to a maximum depth of 25m; this would allow concreting of the founding strata without excavating; and c) planned trials on a trencher system to widen roads on embankments without taking further land or building more embankments. Ground anchors are used to tie back the precast retaining wall which is sunk into the existing embankment thus allowing additional lanes to be built out above the original slope profile.
