SNAG-FREE SNOW BLOWING

Two major elements in the planning of road maintenance in winter are: (1) cost-effective snow removal; (2) salting and its effect on the environment. This article describes the range of snow blowing equipment manufactured by rolba Ltd to meet these requirements. This company has a full range of rolba snow blowers, together with two snow blower attachments, the rolba ra-280 and the rolba utv 110h, based on the rolba two-stage cutter/blower snow clearing system. These attachments can deal effectively and efficiently with any type of snow encountered in the British isles. They cost about 75000 and 30000, respectively. To meet forthcoming requirements for thin spreading of salt for environmental reasons, which are already implemented in some European countries, rolba's associates, kuepper weisser gmbh, in conjunction with bosch, have developed a microprocessor-controlled salt spreader. This equipment has several sophisticated facilities for the control of spreading, and for the printed output of information about the ground that it has covered and the amounts of salt that it has spread.
