COLD SLURRY SEAL MICROCARPET FOR ROAD MAINTENANCE AND TRAFFIC SAFETY
MICROTAPPETO A FREDDO DI TIPO "SLURRY SEAL" PER LA MANUTENZIONE STRADALE E PER LA SICUREZZA DEL TRAFFICO
A study of road surface characteristics (skidding resistance, smoothness, riding comfort, texture) describes and illustrates the procedures associated with the falling weight deflectometer and the sand patch method, and the measurement of the sideways force coefficient and the riding comfort index. The mixing and application of slurry seals is briefly described. Experience in Italy has shown that amongst the best stone aggregates available nationally is crushed basalt rock, which ensures a Los Angeles abrasion of 15-16% and a coefficient of accelerated polishing greater than 0.45.
