MOMENT-ROTATION RELATIONS OF SEMIRIGID CONNECTIONS WITH ANGLES
A semi-analytical procedure is developed to predict the moment-rotation characteristics of the connections by determining the initial connection stiffness, and by determining analytically the ultimate moment capacity of the connections, and also by determining the optimum shape parameter with probability theory. The three parameter power model is used to represent the entire moment-rotation behavior of the connections. This model was found suitable and rational for the representation of connection behavior, and can be easily applied to the second-order frame analysis with semirigid connection. The paper discusses the steel beam-to-column connections using angles: single and double web-angle connections and top- and seat-angle connections with or without double web angle.
