HYBRID EXPERT SYSTEM FOR CONSTRUCTION PLANNING AND SCHEDULING
Research has developed a prototype hybrid expert system for construction planning and scheduling by integrating available computing methods with expert system technology. The system makes use of current compiled-and-maintained industry experience, residing in data banks. The Microcomputer is used in a familiar environment instead of unfamiliar AI (artificial intelligence) work stations and mainframes. The architecture of the system is described, as well as the EXPERT CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULER (ESCHEDULER), and GURU, the expert system building tool (ESBT). The basic architecture allows flexible expansion of the system and utilizes available algorithmic methodologies along with ES (expert system) technology.
