PROBABILISTIC ROUTE CHOICE AND NETWORK ASSIGNMENT MODELS
KANSMODELLEN VOOR ROUTEKEUZE EN NETWERKTOEDELING
The theoretical foundations of some route choice models are discussed. The "multiple routeing procedure" may be regarded as an algorithmic procedure of solving the probit model. An inconsistency between model and algorithm is pointed out. A similar model, the logit model, is dealt with next. Two methods of route evaluation are considered. They underlie the methods of Dial and Gunnarsson. It is very easy to incorporate several route choice variables into the logit model and the model can be used to analyse and to predict either individual or aggregated route choice. The required observations can be gathered from the parameter estimation formula. Some aspects of the computer programs are described. Finally some possible applications are mentioned.
